The most common mistake we see isn't using the wrong product — it's using the right products in the wrong order. Skincare works in layers, and each layer either helps the next one absorb or blocks it.
The rule: thinnest to thickest
Water-like textures go first, creams and oils last. Anything applied after a rich cream is mostly sitting on top of it.
Morning
- Cleanser — a gentle rinse to remove what built up overnight. You don't need a deep clean in the morning.
- Toner — rehydrates and preps the skin so the next steps sink in.
- Serum — your active step. Vitamin C, niacinamide or whatever targets your main concern.
- Moisturiser — seals in everything above it.
- Sunscreen — always last, and never optional in Egypt.
Evening
Same order, minus sunscreen, plus a first cleanse. If you wear makeup or SPF — and you should be wearing SPF — start with a cleansing oil or balm, then follow with your normal cleanser. That's the double cleanse, and it exists because oil-based sunscreen doesn't come off with a foaming wash alone.
Evening is also where retinol and exfoliants belong. Never in the morning, and never on the same night as each other when you're starting out.
How long until it works
Hydration shows in days. Texture takes about four weeks. Pigmentation and fine lines take three months of consistency. Anything promising faster than that is selling you something.
